With just a short and comfortable ferry-ride away, hustle and bustle of city life is far behind, and what awaits is a calming tropical beach paradise. Culutral and heritage, and ecological tours are a great way to sightsee and to experience the lesser known side of Bintan.
To wind down at the end, indulge in a body-and-soul pampering spa treatment at any of the exotic spas. Bintan is home to a few award-winning spas.
Early in its history, the Bintan was a trading centre for local Bugis merchants, Chinese, Arabs and later the British and Dutch. The island was even considered as a potential site for Sir Stamford Raffles’ British trading post before the Singapore was chosen instead.
